Wednesday Weigh In: Fridge Cleanup

May 27, 2015

It never fails. I put a grocery list together and have some sort of plan for what I want to do but then during the week things happen. From having dinner with the family to staying late at work, sometimes I just don’t get the time to prep for dinner or meals for the next day. So at the end of the week I find myself with an excess of fruits and vegetables that I either have to use immediately or throw them away. Today I’m going to share what I did today to take clean out the fridge and make room for next week’s groceries.

  • Lemon and blueberry water
  • Sweet potato chips
  • Kale, berry, apple and cucumber juice
  • Kale, orange, carrot, apple, and ginger juice
  • Large mason jar of apple juice (six medium red apples)
  • Pot of homemade pasta sauce with spinach & mushrooms

Now not all of this was lying around in my fridge taking up space. Once I figured out what I could make from the leftover fruits and veggies I stopped by the store to supplement some of the recipes. However, my last grocery run was for juicing purposes so I did have an abundance of kale and spinach taking up way too much space.

Wednesday Weigh In

March 11, 2015

IMG_4558-1.JPGToday’s Wednesday Weigh In is just a quick post about what I’m doing at work to try and curb cravings and increase my water intake. I’ll be honest, I’m horrible at remembering to drink enough water during the day unless I use a ton of flavor enhancer which can’t be all that great in large amounts. So I’ve been trying something different. A couple of lemon slices in my water bottle as been doing the trick. Its been curbing my appetite and it has a nice fresh flavor.

I’m also a huge tea drinker and I prefer loose tea of buying bagged tea. While I was in this adorable shop, Spice it to a Tea, in North Carolina last year I picked up this adorable cup with an infuser. The best part about it is the lid doubles as a place to set the infuser on when your tea is ready which is perfect for keeping on my desk at work. If you’re interested in getting on you can find them on Amazon in a variety of colors,  FORLIFE Curve Tall Tea Mug with Infuser and Lid 15 ounces, Lime.

Saying Bye To Winter

March 4, 2015

Last night I gathered up all the twigs and leaves in the yard and lit probably the last fire I’d be having until fall. I got the Uniflame WAD997SP Aged Bronze Outdoor Firebowl with Lattice Design last year on Black Friday from Amazon and have loved it ever since. I didn’t get a chance to use it as much as I’d have liked to but with the weather beginning to finally warm up, at least for today, I don’t see many more opportunities other than leaf burning for it. But that’s ok, I’m really looking forward to the warmer weather (just not the pollen).

Tip:

Here’s a little tip for quickly getting your fires going. If you’re reading this then you probably use toilet paper and usually use a dryer for your clothes (but you never know). All those empty toilet paper rolls and annoying dryer lint can be put to good use. Stuff the empty toilet paper rolls with dryer lint and use them as fire starters. It’s a great use for both of these instead of just tossing them in the trash. Of course I don’t recommend stocking up on them throughout the year as that’s a major fire hazard, but making them as needed so far has been a big help.
