(Wow, this is a week late)

OK, so by last Friday night I had watched Star Trek twice. It’s so freaking good.

My dad and I actually got into a small argument about the movie. Now he’s been a huge fan of everything Star Trek for as long as I can remember. So naturally I grew up around it and was a fan of The Original Series, The Next, Generation, and Voyager. Anyway, my dad was very bummed out about the movie once he saw it. He hated that the entire story has changed.

Now here’s my take on it and why it doesn’t bother me in the slightest. Star Trek has been reinvented for a new generation. What’s happened with this movie (if they plan on making more) is that younger people will be able to start at the begining without having to know 40 years of Star Trek history. I think its brilliant.

Alright, thats all I have to say. What do you think about the changes?

    I enjoyed Star Trek. It turned out a lot better than I expected. Sure, things got changed and there are plot holes that you could pilot a starship through, but unless you’re a complete continuity nerd, the new Star Trek universe is completely acceptable.

    I thought it was better the second time around, because I didn’t have that little voice in my brain wondering what the heck was going on and saying “hey, it’s not supposed to be like that!” quite as loudly.

    The third time around I was able to immerse myself into the new Trek universe a little more fully, although I have to admit some of the plot holes started to annoy me a bit.

    Now I think I might have to go see it a fourth time because I forgot to look for R2-D2 the last time I saw it.

    I agree. They also acknowledged the original story line so I give them kudos for that.

    But four times? Wow, I still want to go see it for a third.

    As a long time fan that thinks Wrath of Kahn is one of the greatest movies ever made, I found I had the exact same beef your Dad did. It bugged me quite a bit but I still was able to enjoy the movie overall for what it was and look forward to the sequels with the new cast.

    I enjoyed the movie very much even though there were no tribbles to trouble the trek.
